I’ve been an associate with Practical Governance for a year or more now, initially working on strategic and organisational development support for Knowle West Media Centre.
Through until the end of 2024 and perhaps into early 2025 (I think that is the first time I’ve written that year down!) I will be working with the Operations Lead Arran Marshall to understand, structure, plan in and implement at least some of the strategic aims that PG have on their list of to-do. As with all small and developing organisations, the ideas and agreement on direction is there, but balancing that with delivering paid work to keep the organisation going and all of our busy lives is incredibly challenging. How do you make time for the important but not urgent tasks?!
I’ll add to this post as progress is made, but so far we are experimenting with working in sprints and having a clear focus of those sprints around a particular strategic, working in person together one day a week and having nice lunches to get to know each other and how we like to work, and actively work through the to do list and learn from each other as we do.
I’m really excited to see what comes out of the work, and ery appreciative of the chance to work more closely with Christel, Bob, Lisa and Arran.
